Recent Events
- Nov. 20th 2025, Thursday - Einstein Middle School Library, Dr. Austina DeBonte presented to HiCap parents on "Leaning in to Spiky Strengths for Highly Capable Students". Highly capable students often have asynchronous development, with strengths and challenge areas not just in academic topics, but also in various aspects of social and emotional development. It can be tempting to try to smooth out these differences with the goal of creating a well-rounded learner. However this approach is rarely effective, and doubly so for twice exceptional students. Instead, giving students time and support to develop a spiky strength pays big dividends in developing self-confidence, establishing a growth mindset, increasing their college choices, and can be hugely satisfying.
