FACE/DEI committee
Shoreline PTA Council believes that PTA can and should establish itself as an anti-racist organization committed to improving and changing systems that do not equitably benefit all students and families. We believe that PTAs should actively create space for all families to feel included and valued, especially those who may not have seen themselves reflected in PTA leadership and decision-making. We recognize that working to dismantle institutional racism and advance diversity, equity and inclusion is an integral part of PTA’s work and its vision of making every child’s potential a reality. Our commitment to this is in alignment with the commitments affirmed by National PTA and Washington State PTA:
National PTA - "National PTA stands firmly against racism in all forms and the culture of oppression that permeates the United States. As an
association that represents all children, we must listen, educate and advocate beyond rhetoric and rise to correct all inequities and injustices."

WSPTA - "Therefore, be it resolved, that Washington State PTA and its local PTAs and councils commit to being anti-racist and look within to end
practices that adversely affect our BIPOC students, families, and communities. Read the full resolution entitled "Dismantling Institutional and
Systemic Racism" here.
