update!

The WORKS will be CLOSED this evening (Wednesday, February 13th) due to weather conditions and next Wednesday (February 20) for Mid-Winter Break. The WORKS will reopen on Wednesday, February 27th.

WHAT IS THE WORKS?

The WORKS clothing room provides high quality, clean, gently used children’s and teen clothing to Shoreline School District families. Shoreline families experiencing economic hardship can bring their children to “shop” for gently used, stylish clothing and receive new underwear, socks and hygiene products.

HOURS

The WORKS is open on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm. If you cannot make it to The WORKS during our open hours, you can contact Jill Steinberg at shorelineptaworks@gmail.com or leave a message on The WORKS information line at (206) 393-4916 to arrange an appointment time.

location

The WORKS has moved to our new home on the north side of the Shoreline Center at 18560 1st Ave NE, Shoreline, WA 98155!  Enter the north parking lot off of 1st Avenue NE (just south of the tennis courts).  Once in the parking lot, drive straight until you have to turn right. Then as you continue straight ahead, you'll see our blue door and the sign for The WORKS.

volunteers

**New! Use this handy online form to request to volunteer at The WORKS!** Note that the link goes to an external website hosted by secure.lglforms.com.

The WORKS is run by a committee of PTA volunteers representing many different schools throughout the Shoreline School District.  They are supported each Wednesday by volunteers from local PTA units.  Each local unit signs up to assist 2-3 Wednesdays during the school year.  For this year’s schedule see Local PTA Schedule (updated 12.10.18).

PTA volunteers must read and agree to the Volunteer Guidelines before volunteering on site at The WORKS.  A Volunteer Agreement must be filled out, signed and turned in the first time one volunteers each year. You can contact the Volunteer Coordinator to confirm you have an agreement filed for the current year.

Teen Volunteer Hours
The WORKS provides an opportunity for teen volunteer hours.  There is limited space available on Wednesdays and teens must make arrangements ahead of time by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator - Jill Steinberg,  shorelineptaworks@gmail.com. Please see Student Volunteer Guidelines and Student Volunteer Agreement.

Youth Groups & Community Volunteers
The WORKS has many opportunities for groups to assist on special projects throughout the year.  Sorting and packaging product drive items, restocking the clothing room, helping set up for special events are some of the ways groups can participate.  To arrange for your group to volunteer please contact the Volunteer Coordinator - Jill Steinberg,  shorelineptaworks@gmail.com.

Golden Hanger Award
Each year The WORKS recognizes outstanding product drive and financial donations from local PTA units, community groups and corporate donors with the “Golden Hanger” Award.  For more information see Golden Hanger.

FAMILY SERVICE CHAIRS
Each local PTA's Family Service Chair is the liaison with The WORKS committee.  Local PTAs are provided each year with current poster, newsletter article and contact information.  The WORKS committee works with the Family Service Chair to distribute information to local school families about the service and about donation needs.  See Manual.
